Honors apply only to undergraduate degrees. Students who have achieved a grade point average overall in one of the following categories may be eligible for honors. This G.P.A must be maintained in Murray State coursework as well. In addition, honors recipients must have earned a minimum of 45 semester hours at MSU with 32 of these hours being upper division credit. If one of these categories is deficient, the student will not receive honors.
3.3 - 3.59 Cum Laude
3.6 - 3.79 Magna Cum Laude
3.8 - 4.0 Summa Cum Laude
It is important to note that if the overall G.P.A falls in one category and the G.P.A at MSU falls in another category, the grade point average in the lowest category will be the deciding factor (assuming that all other criteria have been met).
Note: Effective Fall 2015, cum laude honors will require a 3.40 minimum GPA for both overall cumulative GPA and institution only GPA.
The size of all diplomas is 11 x 14 inches. The degree title will appear in the center of the diploma beneath the name. Majors and minors are not listed on the diploma. Degree honors, if appropriate, are printed below the degree title.

You can NOW order duplicate diplomas online to be mailed to you.
Note: All degrees will be verified for accuracy. Please do not request that your duplicate diploma contain a "nickname". Those requests cannot be honored - only official names will be printed.
Murray State University degrees are conferred at the end of the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms. Commencement ceremonies are held twice a year; in the Spring and in the Fall.
Names of May graduates will be printed in the Spring Commencement program and names of August and December graduates will be printed in the Fall Commencement program. All graduates are encouraged to attend the exercises. August graduates are encouraged to participate in the December graduation ceremony of the same year.
A meeting of all degree candidates is held at 12:30 p.m. in the CFSB Center the Wednesday immediately preceding the ceremony. Instructions are provided at that time.
